About Us
The Local Food Works Coalition (LFW) is a network of farmers, nonprofits, businesses, and residents seeking to build a more equitable, sustainable, and accessible local food system in North Central Massachusetts (NCMA). We’re working to make healthy local food accessible to all by providing training and support to help local farmers scale up; creating a food hub to aggregate, store, and distribute food in the region; and strengthening coordination and communications among all sectors of the NCMA food system.
Growing Places (GP) is a nonprofit serving North Central Massachusetts (NCMA) since 2001 that seeks to improve the health of our region through an equitable, just local food system and sustainable environment. We are volunteer-driven and work with our community to create long-term, sustainable changes focused on increasing fresh food access and environmental sustainability. Our programs target food system gaps specific to NCMA. This currently includes aggregating local produce from throughout the region, processing and distributing it to the community via SNAP/HIP-eligible access points (home delivery, mobile markets, farmers markets), and coalition-building to promote cross-sector communication and collaboration.
